D5Y (District 5 Youth ) is part of the economic and vocational advancement sub committee of Mo MAGIC .  D5Y is an opportunity for youth led enterprise. it allows youth to explore different careers, meet with business leaders in a variety of fields and explore their own career choices/options.

D5Y is based on the belief that our youth need an opportunity for hands on experiences in job.  The Mo MAGIC collaborative is committed to developing and offering those opportunities and experiences. As a result,we work with Urban Solutions and the Buzz on Biz Entrepreneurial Program to create several activities that afford dozens of youth the chance to create their own business and explore their options for the future.

The American Youth Policy hosted a forum on Issues on At-Risk  and Out of School Youthand in the summary they state " Young people want and need different types of learning experiences. For some, hands-on learning and vocational education are very critical and so is work-based learning to give them a sense of the opportunities and expectations of the working world."
